History of the domain Dortmund

During the second world war, the old prince of Dortmund had been destroyed. For many years Dortmund was the territory of the anarchs. Mainly very young kindred lived here, and there was neither a central ruler nor were any kind of laws or traditions observed.
1996 the Brujah Christian Hohensyburg returned to his home city after having travelled extensively all over the world. He was shocked to find the city in a state of chaos and anarchy, therefore he quickly decided to reestablish law and order here.
He declared himself prince of the city and announced an ultimatum: By January 1st 1997, all the kindred of the city would either have to leave or accept his rulership and the laws of the Camarilla. On new years eve, he started the purge that quickly resulted in all remaining anarchs being either driven from the city or killed over the course of the next few nights.
During the next few months he gathered the young kindred who had chosen to stay in the city and accept his rule. In addition to these natives, many other young kindred were attracted to the city where they were not as severely restricted as in other cities where very old kindred ruled.
Christian Hohensyburg proved to be an idealist who tried to implement a democratic society among the kindred. He created a parliament of kindred who were elected to their posts by all the kindred in the city without any regard to clan or age. Unfortunately this experiment failed, because the elected leaders either proved unable to fulfill their task or could not keep the support of their peers who had elected them into their office.
Due to this failure the prince eventually dismissed the parliament alltogether. He nominated his childe Belas Kaltenstein as the acting regent, and Belas created a traditional primogen council with one representative from each clan. He did let each clan choose its own primogen from among its members though.
This system seems to work better, because the political situation in Dortmund has calmed down somewhat since then.
